I backed this through Kickstarter & it was the best money ever spent! This backpack has premium materials & is you can tell a lot of thought went into it. Hands down the best backpack you have ever seen. If you didn't get one, you have to keep an eye out for a restock & immediately purchase it. I regret not buying 2 of them. However, I can't wait for the X-PAC version cause I will definitely be purchasing that as well as the Fyro Sling & the Fyro Travel Bag. I know all those will also be just as amazing as the T22. I also can't wait for any limited edition drops in the future, maybe different colors and/or materials. Aaron & your team did a great job with this & I can't wait for what else you have in the works.
I've had the T22 for five months now and recently tried it as a personal item for a hybrid trip to Chicago. I have a tech heavy carry, and I lean on bags that are thoughtfully organized, protect my goods, and are comfortable for big city walking. The T22 turned out to be a fantastic companion for all phases of my trip. I was particularly impressed by the utility of the hatch during transit. The organization is great there but it also works as a dump pocket for awkward TSA/registration moments because of the magnetic closure. The expansion was perfect for transit days and slimming the bag for city walking worked as advertised. I'll add my voice to the throng noting the comfort of the shoulder straps - they are fantastic.
For a future iteration, I would like to see an additional leverage point/carry option with a side handle and less awkward/limiting water bottle integration. I would appreciate more range in the sternum strap for larger-chested folks. The look could use a little refining, but that'll happen naturally as the bag evolves. And this bag definitely deserves a chance to live on in the carry community.
Kudos to all involved for making such a unique and useful bag.
I’ve been using the hell out of this bag and I love it. My favorite back so far. I’ve used it for work, travel and general edc, it works seamlessly for pretty much all of the above.
Materials and design are excellent, and the bag is comfortable even when stuffed to the brim. My only gripes are two things: getting the side bottle holder attached to those little nub things SUUUUGGGS, and I wish there was an extra internal pocket literally anywhere else. OH and I’d like to see more accessories for this bag in general to heighten its usability. Like I said, almost perfect can’t see to see what’s next.
Disclaimer, before reading my review on the Fyro T-22 back pack there are somethings to keep in mind whilst reading my review. I am a huge fan of the nomad nation YouTube channel, & even more of a fan of Aaron’s “online personality.” I was also amongst the many who backed the Fyro T-22 when it first launched on kickstarter. I mention this because I want the reader to know that I will be reviewing the T-22 on a curve & it will NOT be on Fyro’s favor, reason behind that is, I wanted to give an unbiased review as much as possible. By deducting a half point or half a star the reader can have a better idea of a first time user experience.
Out the box one of the most “controversial” takes on the T-22 is its design, to me it reminds me of an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants in season six episode #204 named “Not Normal.” So if you weren’t a fan of SpongeBob’s design in said episode the T-22’s silhouette may not be for your liking. Let’s start with the back of the T-22, where most of my “criticisms” lie. For starters as comfortable as the shoulder straps may be, I found them to be feel to rigid or stiff ON THE EDGES when holding, So PRO tip upon arrival squeeze the stuff out of them. The sternum strap is a big help when carrying the T-22 HOWEVER adjusting the sternum strap is a pain in my finger nails. PRO tip keep a Bobby pin handy to keep the what I call the “bunny ears” propped for an easier release. I would have like to see a mechanism where you press “the bunny ears” and they lift to release the sternum strap. The back panel can only be described as a “comfort wall,” I pride myself of having proper posture and somehow the Fyro assures that (if that makes any sense). However. I found the back panel to feel a bit constricting to the accessibility of the laptop sleeve, PRO TIP to combatant that I folded that back pack back a bit to loosen it up, I imagine the reason it feels so pressed is because of all the layers on both sides of the back panel.
The water bottle sleeves are top tier when inserted properly, HOWEVER it’s material, much like the mesh pockets are susceptible to being punctured or torn, so if you have “pop corn walls” or own any kind of jewelry or any accessories that easily get caught on stuff I URGE you to keep that in mind, I now understand why some people would want a designated pen or pencil pocket. I would also recommend to NOT removing the water bottle sleeves & instead stashing neatly in the deep hidden pocket (I made a video of how much stuff the HATCH & they side hidden-pockets can hold so please feel free to watch)
The front of the back pack is made of a very malleable very durable material, However due to vegan leather in the laptop compartment the back of the T-22 has a different feel, (remember comfy wall). With that said the vegan leather adds to the weight of the T-22. Speaking of the weight of the T-22 the backpack weighs almost two and a half pounds, which could be another deal breaker for some. As someone whose new to the world of bags and back packs I was kinda at awe on how much the back pack weighs, it should be noted that I use the T-22 back FULLY expanded with two 24 oz steel water bottles real “hydro homie” & I have to be honest after a long day at the office the T-22 can feel a bit much to carry ESPECIALLY when you are using it with only one shoulder strap, ( I honestly don’t know how the advertisers do it. )
All & all, the Fyro T-22 is an exceptional Back pack, when being mindful on how you pack the T-22 can be a joy to carry, it does have a learning curve, but once you learn the tango with the T-22, I genuinely believe people will find it to be an unique experience for those who carry their tech everywhere or are hard at work or simply on their daily commutes. Personally I don’t believe the Fyro T-22 works as a gym back pack, but that’s because I know how bad I smell after a hard day doing cardio on the treadmill 🤢🤮 for me this is my office bag it keeps a few things extra suck as toiletries glasses case etc but in my opinion it works best an a personal carry on.
My final rating of the Fyro T-22 after grading it on a scale is a solid (9.3 out of ten! ) at its lowest an 8.7 out of ten or a 4.3 stars out of five. When considering all the things that hinder the T-22 i truly believe that’s a fair assessment, add to fact that there are plenty of videos online with other consumers showcasing their T-22 , a new buyer should feel reassured weather or not the T-22 is the back pack for them, & lets not forget about Fyros amazing consumer service.. from my experience I can assure you that they are on-top of that game. With that all said if you made it to the end of my review I want to thank you for your time and have nice day
Oh ps on the conversation of weight I would love to see an X pac version of this bag on the market see how it feels and see if it’s any lighter then thee original
And it’s alternative canvas iteration
