The standout for this bag is definitely the comfort. The shoulder straps and back panel feel absolutely amazing and are extremely comfortable. This is great for its intended use as an EDC or travel bag.
For the hatch, I do like that there’s 3 ways to use it (unsecured with quick access, medium security with the lid covering the zipper, and full security with the zipper being tied and covered by the lid), and you of course have the option to alternate between the three depending on the scenario.
My only con with the bag is with the hydrolock. Removing it and adding it back can be a pain, and I don’t like that the hidden back pocket can’t be used when the hydrolock is attached.
This is probably the most comfortable bag I have ever owned. You barely feel it on your back, and it is very light for its volume. The materials are very nice, however, some bruises and scratches will occur with daily use. I use it as my EDC. I would appreciate more zipper pockets inside. The front compartment is also quite small (I prefer the front compartment of the Recycled Firefighter 12-hour backpack). One small nitpick, when you throw keys in the front compartment, they often get caught by the magnets. The laptop compartment feels a bit overbuilt.
On the positive side, the clamshell opening with inward flaps keeps items from spilling out, and the water bottle/umbrella holders are perfectly designed—they can double as quick-access pockets when not in use. These are details that clearly show the bag was designed with real thought.
Nevertheless, while this backpack may not be perfect in every aspect, the overall balance of features it offers is the best mix out there. Definitely better than Aer and other similar companies. Also, the customer service is excellent.
I’m really impressed with this backpack! The materials feel super premium, and the overall quality is excellent. It’s very comfortable to wear, even for longer periods of time. The hatch design took me a little while to get used to since it’s quite unique, but now that I have, I actually love how well it works. Shipping was a little unusual, but the customer service team was absolutely excellent and replied quickly.

Backed the original founders edition and really liked it (it would get a 4.5), but really liked the changes made for the X-Pac edition. So one of my kids will get my founders edition when they kill their current backpack.
Both versions are extremely comfortable, well-organized and have an exceptional laptop compartment. I also absolutely love the hydrolock water bottle holders. I bought 2 with each bag. Water bottle pockets are typically the first things that fail (loose elasticity or tear) on other backpacks. I only use one, but being able to replace (and switch around, though I don't do that) them should increase the lifetime of the bag.
This is my EDC, but I've also used it as my personal item for multiple flights.
I thought it would be great, but it’s just okay.
The price is a bit high, and the material feels quite hard—I guess it might soften over time with use. Also, for those who don’t need to carry a laptop, this bag isn’t really suitable.
I believe Aron will eventually release a compact version, maybe something like the Fyro Tenax 22L Compact. Also if you need more feed back i am always down to talk to you.
