Been using the T22 for the last month. I have a hard time giving anything 5 stars, but this would be a 4.5 so I am rounding up.
I will start with the pros...The laptop compartment is amazingly snug and really is great to use. The straps, back panel, and sternum strap make this a really comfortable bag to carry. I have found that other bags in this size range are not uncomfortable, but this bag I actually notice the comfort. For an EDC bag I like that it has the gussets and keeps it from flopping open so it works well as a luggage companion. I prefer full opening on a travel bag. I know people have a love/hate with the water bottle pockets. I have found myself enjoying the water bottle pocket set-up. I either have a water bottle for a whole trip or I don't, so I am not pulling it out and putting it up often. I appreciate that I have the option when I want one, but I also have room inside for it usually (I got used to that with my CPL24). One other side note, I found the stretch pockets inside the main compartment very useful. I never use slip pockets inside the main compartments of my EDC bag, usually just the zips, but these are quicker for me to access than the ones at the bottom of the hatch.
Cons...I don't love the hatch. Do I appreciate it being different than others? yes. That said I don't love many of the front sections of most of my EDC bags. I like the vertical set-up to the horizontal, but I don't have anywhere good to clip things on to. The stretchy material fits battery banks, airpods, etc. well, but I can't easily clip in and out a flashlight, pen, knife, or multi tool. I almost would have preferred to have the zippered pocket be bigger than it was to just drop more in. See the pro above, I find the slip pocket in the main compartment easier to access. Next, I wish it had a really good drop pocket like on the CPL24. Easy for me to say since I don't have to figure out the design. I just don't have a quick access point to the few things I grab out of that pocket. I have to go in the hatch and in the zipper. Lastly, I wish I got the XPAC version. My CPL24 is XPAC and wanted to get a different material for the T22. While I am not saying the material itself is a con, it is perfectly ok, I just prefer the XPAC. This material tends to show wear a little quicker than XPAC, but it is still an acceptable amount. I would possibly recommend a different material on the bottom of the non-XPAC version. I think it will show wear quicker than the rest of the bag.
All in I really like the bag and it is one that I will keep in the rotation. If you value comfort, tech protection, premium feel (if you have had other bags you get it), and need a great roller luggage companion then give it a chance.
I've only used T22 for for 3 days, and I absolutely loving it. I use it everyday, it really accounts for every need on my EDC items for a backpack. Really great in terms of comfort on my back. The command center is the most useful part for me. It's a very thoughtful design. The ability to self stand was something I didn't think I need it until I see how good it is. One thing that is a personal preference was the two pockets in the main compartment. I wish there was two more extra open pockets because I just have a little more small/medium items that could not fit in my tech pouch, so I have to just toss them in.
Well the bag looks fine but the laptop space way too cushioned, it's overkill in my opinion. Since it's heavily cushioned the tab space too tight for my liking. Also the bag has a very weird smell like some burnt plastic. One more thing I noticed is that white patches here and there on the bag, it appears something like after plastic surface gets scratched and we haven't even used the bag yet.
I just wanted to take a second and shout out the customer service team. Both Denise and Aly were extremely professional on how they handled my situation. I appreciate how they responded quickly and were able to help me with my complex case. As a consumer this is the support you want. Extremely grateful for everything they did to help me out.
Got the X-PAC version. And it.. is... AMAZING!! Best bag ever! Honestly. The comfort, style, and usability of this bag are absolutely incredible! I've never experienced a backpack like this. It over built to be the best EDC/travel bag ever. And I love it! Especially the back padding and shoulder straps. From the pictures, it seems like the x-pac version was given more padding for the back panel than the standard T22. And I really think that that amount of padding should be standard and the neoprene on the bag as well. It just makes more sense for the level of comfort you get.
Only cons I have is the hydro lock barely fits my 32oz yeti water bottle. Wish there were 2 sizes of the hydro lock to accommodate people wanting to use bigger bottles. And then there is the Hatch. The magnetic zipper pull tab is a cool idea, looks cool, and works well. The only time it gets annoying is when you don't put it back in the right spot and it gets stuck to the magnets for the Hatch. Makes it to where you can't grab and pull with quick muscle memory. Then there is the placement of the laser cut glasses straps. I think there a little too high and make putting sunglasses on them stick out awkwardly. Other than that, phenomenal bag!
And, I can't say enough good things about Aaron and his team! I unfortunately have fallen on hard times short after receiving the bag and was trying to return it. But, since I used it a few times and threw away the packaging, they still gave me a partial refund! Super nice of them and I really appreciate it. Which also means I have to sell the bag, which i don't want to. But, I didn't count on life happening after getting the bag. When I'm able to, I'm definitely gonna be getting the standard bag when I am able to again. The only thing I'll miss will the the extra back padding and that neoprene on the straps and back panel.
